Behind Port Elizabeth in uncharted Eastern Cape mountains Sand River Getaway offers you a place to unwind, adventure, relax and explore. Less than an hour drive from Port Elizabeth and Uitenhage! There are a number of scenic hikes and trails, as well as a our popular Sand River Waterfall hike. A short drive and you are in Addo National Park, the Baviaanskloof, Groendal Nature Reserve or the Longmore Forest which all offer spectacular views and trails. Sand River Getaway is in a great position for mountain bikers to enter the Longmore Forest or cycle along the Elands River road. If you are not feeling adventurous, breath in the valley while you enjoy personal pleasures from a sunny deck or in the pool. Perfect for backpackers visiting the Port Elizabeth area or a weekend getaway for families.
Comfortable and Convenient
Our tents and cabins are comfortable with beds and bedding and contain basic furnishings. Each unit has a private braai area with braai and grid, and a picnic bench. The units each have motion sensor solar lights over the braai areas, but there is no other electricity at the tent sites.
The kitchen is fully equipped so you don't need to pack and carry loads of 'camping gear' when you come and stay with us!! Just remember that there are no electrical plug points in the kitchen or the communal centre.
Eco-friendly Getaway!
Sand River Getaway is an Eco getaway where we are trying to live a sustainable existence, with the hot water and the fridge using gas and solar powered lights in the Centre. The facilities are all centralized. Our water comes from a borehole and is delicious. We keep the lighting minimal so that you can see the incredible stars at night. These elements of our establishment mean we urge guests to be mindful and understanding when using facilities. No load music is permitted unless you book the whole venue for a private function.
Please note that all bathrooms are centralized at a short walk away from each unit.
Please note we are off the grid - There is no electricity in any of the tented units or cabin.
Solar lights over the braai areas and pathways create some lighting but it is advisable to bring along
your own lamps and torches.

Cancellation Policy
All cancellations must be submitted in writing.
Cancellation charges apply as follows:
* More than one month prior to check in date - full refund
* 22-30 days prior to check in date - Forfeit 25% of deposit
*15-21 days prior to check in date - Forfeit 50% of deposit
* 8-14 days prior to check in date - Forfeit 80% of deposit
*0-7 days prior to check in date - Forfeit 100% of deposit.
*Non arrival or early departure - no refund - total booking value is forfeit/payable.
